What is Real Restaurant Reviews Madison?
RRRM is what the title promises: real restaurant reviews by real people, here in Madison, WI. It's also part of my ongoing campaign to see how many different ways I can misspell the word "restaurant," so stay tuned for more there.
What makes a review "real"?
We're real people. We don't work for a specific publication or ratings organization, we don't have a scale of numerical scores in different categories, and we don't take money from people for our reviews. It's safe to say that no one knows us well enough to give us special treatment either, so you're getting as close to a review of the actual dining experience as possible.
What qualifies you to review restaurant?
Everyone writing on the site has their own unique background with food. You can learn more about each reviewer on our About the Authors page -- we've got people with years in the restaurant industry, we've got people studying the genetics of staple crops, and we're all bringing our own perspective to the reviews. Call it the liberal arts approach.
How often do you post reviews?
We shoot for once weekly, usually on Mondays. Sometimes we'll sneak a few extra posts in, especially when someone wants to write about something a little off-topic. Keep us in your blog reader or RSS feed to make sure you stay on top of all our updates!
How do you pick which restaurant to review?
Honestly? Our first filter is whatever the heck we feel like eating this week. We try to strike a good balance between well-known favorites and out-of-the-way spots you might not have heard of, and to cover as broad a range of styles and prices as possible. There's a certain bias toward the more affordable range of the scale because most of us frankly aren't that rich, but we chip in on the occasional fancy meal to keep things varied.
Will you ever review [restaurant]?
We'd love to! And we may even get to it on our own some day -- but if there's somewhere you're interested in and you'd like us to check it out, drop us a letter and we'll get out there just for you. Twist our arms, right?
